Incognito by Eugen Barbu
Crevedia  Barbu was born in Bucharestand briefly attended the University of Bucharest ‘s Faculty of Law, and then graduated from the Faculty of Letters ; he subsequently worked as a journalist for the left-wing press.
Barbu’s prose, in which the influence of neorealism has been noted, drew comparison to the works of Mateiu Caragiale, Tudor Arghezi, and Curzio Malaparte.
Finished volume 1 out of 4 and will update as I read the next; leaving aside the communist times bs about the party’s supposed historical role etc etc, the book is just pure fun and mostly satire, though not only; a recreation of the high life of Bucharest with incursions from the past and notes from the future by the merciless pamphleteer Eugen Barbu.
This is a family chronicle with prominent concessions to the communist regime.
